November/December meetings

Our LAST Rose City Quilters' Club meeting for this year is Monday 25th November.

This is our Christmas meeting and our AGM (please consider joining committee)
Club members please bring a small plate for sharing supper.
We will once again be donating to Star Light and the amazing work they do. Please remember to bring a few bits a pieces to help them over Christmas. Details of suitable items in the latest club newsletter.
Our speaker is Anna Williams.

2019 Tote & Gloat Challenge Prize winners

Our Annual Tote & Gloat was held in Arena 4 at The B&M Arena, Pascal Street, Palmerston North, on the 11th of May 2019. Our speaker was Rachel Daisy - check out her blog HERE. These were some of her lovely quilts on display :

Ticket holders were also encouraged to make and enter a block on the theme of Farm Animals - any sort of farm animals on a light colour background. These were all the entries this year :
12 winners were chosen by viewers' choice and these will be made into our raffle quilt for next year's Tote & Gloat.
1st prize Farm friends by Debbie Murray Aynsley
This was our 2019 raffle quilt made from the winning blocks of last year's "Transport" block challenge.
Congratulations to all our winners. If you missed the show, come to our next club meeting May 27th - members who entered the challenges are encouraged to bring their quilts to show again.

Tote and Gloat : 11 May 2019

Our Annual Tote & Gloat will be held in Arena 4 at The B&M Arena, Pascal Street, Palmerston North, on the 11th of May 2019.  8am-5pm. Pre-registration for Tote & Gloat is essential. Tickets cost $15 and are available from our local shops listed on the poster below.
Your entry ticket to Tote & Gloat 2019 is your lucky number. Please ensure you wear it on the day as we will have a door prize draw at the end of the day. To receive this you must be physically present and have your ticket! If not immediately claimed this will be redrawn until it is.
We are looking forward to meeting you and seeing your quilts, quilt-tops and other quilted items to show us all the work you have been doing over the past year. We are only able to hang quilts with Velcro attached, either to the quilt itself or on a temporary sleeve. Remember we want to see them all, the more, the better!!

Our guest speaker is Rachel Daisy from Australia.  Check out some of her quilts HERE. She will be teaching classes on the Sunday and Monday after Tote & Gloat. Further information HERE.

Once again we will have raffles, challenge quilts, a Merchant Mall and your fabulous quilts all on show.
Merchant Mall open 8:00 -10am, 12:30 -2:45pm, & until 5pm
Café with EFTPOS open 8:30am –10am, and 12:30 - 2:45pm
To reduce queuing time we hope that people will stagger their food purchasing with shopping and voting over the lunch break. EFTPOS and cash sales will be available.
The café and merchants will not be open during Show and Tell, the speaker’s talk and the Challenge awards.

To help you plan your day, here is a guide of what is planned:
8am Arena 4 opens for ticket holders
- View guest exhibitor’s work and merchant mall.
- Hand in blocks for block challenge (info provided with our Tote & Gloat ticket)
- Challenge voting 9am – 2.15pm
10:00am  Show & Tell begins 10am (sharp) to about 12:30pm (with raffles in between)
12:30ish – 2:30pm Lunch, Shopping & Voting
2:45pm – 3.45pm (approx.) Guest Speaker: Rachel Daisy
Challenge Awards, Raffles, Notices and Door Prize Draw to follow speaker.
Merchants will remain open until 5pm for last minute shopping.

There are two Challenges for RCQ members:
“Hearts”
Use your imagination to come up with a quilt for this challenge. It can be any shape to fit within a 1.5m x 1.5m square.
Fabric Challenge (given out at the Christmas meeting) Must be 12” x 15” except for the anything goes category
Find the rules for the challenges in your newsletter.

Anyone who purchases a Tote & Gloat ticket may enter the block challenge.
Block Challenge – Farm Animals Block must be finished size 12 ½ x 12 ½ - any sort of farm animals on a light colour background.
