Celebration of Quilts : Ribbon Winners

The club's "Celebration of Quilts" show is held every 2 years and was held this past weekend 1-2 October 2016 at Palmerston North Girls High School. This post contains photos of all the quilts that won ribbons at the show. Click on any photo to see them larger.
These are the winning quilts in the general exhibition :
Best of Show (new this year) : Erilyn McMillan "Animals at war"
Best Traditional : Anne Adams "Snails at sea"
Best Contemporary/Modern : Anne Adams "Night flight"  + Life Member award
Best Applique : Jenny Parry "Expression of Morris".  Jenny's quilt also won Viewers' Choice for the General Exhibition.
Best Art Quilt : Sheryl Meech "Night flowers"
Best Pictorial : Sonja Revell "Poochie"
Best Hand Quilting : Tarnia Hodges "Gypsy Wife - Summer"

The club members' challenge was Through the Looking Glass. Quilt size A3. 
First Time Entrant : 2nd place "Invisible Illness" by Tarnia Hodges
Intermediate : 1st place "Magic Schrooms" by Colleen Blair
Advanced : 1st place " Tripping through the Looking Glass" by Nicky Webster
Professional : 1st place "A view through the cabin's porthole" by Sonja Revell.  Sonja's quilt also won Viewers' Choice for the Challenge.
Professional : 2nd place "Looking through John Lennon's Eyes" by Dianne Southey

Visitors to the exhibition were asked to vote for one quilt in the general exhibition AND one of the challenge quilts. 
There were also some lovely raffles. 
Original quilt made and donated by our club president and guest exhibitor Chrissy Sheed. Won by Lee Johnson.
Country Garden Quilt. Won by Natalya Gorinski. 
Poppy fabric kit. Won by Judy Cann.
Mrs Tiggywinkle fabric kit. Won by Phil Holdsworth
And all raffle tickets went into an additional prize draw of a Cushla's fabric roll. Won by Margaret Johnson.
