Charity quilt weekend 23 & 24 May

Every year we donate quilts as part of our club's birthday meeting in July. This year’s charity is Arohanui Hospice. We aim to make 12 quilts for their beds as their old ones are beyond repair. The size they are wanting is 59” x 68”.
Rose City Quilters would like to invite you and your friends to our charity sewing weekend.
We would love your help from 9am on Saturday the 23rd May and/or Sunday the 24th May at the Catholic Cathedral Hall, 197 Broadway Ave (the best way to enter is off Amesbury St) or beside Broadway Radiology tucked in behind the church.
What’s required :
* Yourself and your friends (They do not have to be members of the club to come and help)
* Your Sewing Machine (optional)
* Your sewing tools
* Cutting boards and rulers (please Name these)
*Your lunch
The club provides :
*Design Walls
*Irons and Ironing boards
*Orphan and Block of the month blocks and fabrics
*Morning and afternoon tea
How the Day works:
Depending on numbers we will divide the group up into teams. Each team receives a collection of blocks with fabrics and in some cases a pattern to complete a quilt top. The team sorts themselves out into a sewer, ironer, cutter etc. It’s up to you.
We also have quilts that will need basting and quilting over the week end.
The club provide all the materials for these quilts, all we need is your expertise and time to put them together.
Thank you to the club members who have already generously donated materials or whole quilts for this project.

May Saturday Stitchin'

Saturday Stitchin' for this month is Saturday 16th May.
Every 3rd Saturday of the month at the Awapuni Community Hall in Newbury St from 9.30am – 4.00pm several Rose City Quilters members have been meeting for a day of sewing, chatting, eating and drinking. This is a great day to bring UFO’s and to pick up tips on binding, borders, colours and so on. The hall has heaps of light and plenty of tables to spread out on. There’s also a table tennis table, which is ideal for basting large quilts. You need to bring a cup/mug, your lunch and $2.00. If you want to join any Saturday Stitchin’ please contact Robin Huxtable, phone 358 5117 or just turn up.
