Tote & Gloat : Saturday 9th May

Tote & Gloat 2015 will be held a week later than is usual, in Arena 2 on the 9th of May. This venue is bigger, brighter and much more sound-proof.
Pre-registration for Tote & Gloat is essential – entry tickets are not sold on the day. Cost $15
You can buy them in Palmerston North from The Cloth Shop (48 Victoria Ave), Village Books & Crafts (318 College Street) or Angels in Gumboots (101 Cambridge Ave, Ashhurst)

Our guest speaker is Kay Haerland from Australia. As Kay is not teaching after Tote & Gloat, we have decided to pay extra for her to bring out extra quilts for us to see. It is much nicer to see the actual quilts than on a screen on stage.

Once again we will have raffles, challenge quilts, a Merchant Mall and your fabulous quilts all on show! To help you plan your day, here is a rough guide of what is planned:
8:30am Hall open for viewing guest exhibitor’s work and merchant mall. Hand in blocks for block challenge. Cafeteria open (we do recommend you purchase your lunch early before the rush, and Eftpos is available).
10:00am  Tote & Gloat show and tell begins
12:30pm Lunch break.
1:45pm Voting for Viewer’s Choice on Challenge Quilt and Challenge Block closes
2:25pm Guest speaker
3:15pm Announcement of the Challenge winners
4:00pm  Quilts taken down.

We are having exhibitions from "Stellar Quilters" sharing 50cm square quilts. The Hoffman challenge and the Suitcase exhibition will also be there.

This year we are having two Challenges for RCQ members : please click HERE for further information.
1. The Christmas Cracker Challenge
2. The Bucket List Challenge
The Challenges must have an Artist’s Statement attached to your entry that has no more than fifty words. The Challenges must be delivered by 4.00pm on 7th May to Village Books and Crafts or The Cloth Shop or Angels in Gumboots (addresses above). The Completed entry form needs to be attached to the back of the quilt.  Entry forms were in members' March 2015 Newsletter.

Hope to see you there.

April Saturday Stitchin'

Saturday Stitchin' for this month is Saturday 18th April.
Every 3rd Saturday of the month at the Awapuni Community Hall in Newbury St from 9.30am – 4.00pm several Rose City Quilters members have been meeting for a day of sewing, chatting, eating and drinking. This is a great day to bring UFO’s and to pick up tips on binding, borders, colours and so on. The hall has heaps of light and plenty of tables to spread out on. There’s also a table tennis table, which is ideal for basting large quilts. You need to bring a cup/mug, your lunch and $2.00. If you want to join any Saturday Stitchin’ please contact Robin Huxtable, phone 358 5117 or just turn up.
