Pam Holland : Lecture and Quilt Class

Pam Holland Lecture
Pam is being brought to New Zealand by Quilt Symposium Manawatu 2015 to do a lecture tour of the country.
Friday 2nd March 7pm Entry $5 at The Lychway, 5 Roy Street, Palmerston North.
Pam travels around the world teaching and taking amazing photos, some of which she translates into quilts. She is also well known for her recreation of the Bayeux Tapestry. Check out her website for further information about her. In her words below she describes herself -
I'm a Textile Artist, Photographer, Author, Illustrator, Wife and Mother to 13 bambinos. I travel the world teaching Textile Art and Photography. Its one of the best jobs in the world really.Artists are inventors, shaping the new from the already established. Some of my ideas about quilts come to me through the whisperings of ancestors and unknown/unseen muses. Other inspiration comes from nature, my photography, my experiences in travel and the light in my expression as I see the world as a very special place.
Pam Holland Quilt Class
Whilst in Palmerston North we are lucky enough to be having a class which will initially be open to members of the 5 clubs who were part of QSM2015 – Rose City Quilters, Rangitikei Country Quilters, Town and Country Quilters, Foxy Quilters and Cotton On Quilters. If there are still spaces left then it will be opened up to anyone. If there are too many wanting to participate then a ballot will be done to fill the class.
Saturday 3rd March 9:30am – 4pm $50
“Inspired to Stitch – Image and Line Drawing”
Use an image from your camera : capture and learn to convert it to a line drawing. The image is subtle, and it’s a balance of the delicacy of the thread and palette.
Pam will teach you creative thread sketching, learn how to use your computer to prepare the image, talk about basic art techniques and learn the art of contour quilting. You may not complete the quilting in one day. Below are some examples :
Please contact Dianne on or (06) 3555735 to book a place in the class or obtain further information
