Our guest speaker this year is Dale Rollerson. See Dale's blog HERE and her mail order business Thread Studio HERE. Dale is a textile artist living in Australia (originally from NZ). She is passionate about all areas of textile art and tries to be as cutting edge as she can. Dale teaches both online and in-person workshops, and will be taking 2 days of classes for the club following Tote & Gloat. Please contact Dianne at Village Books and Crafts to see if there are any spaces left.
Club challenges this year (open to financial members) are "2 Colour Challenge" and "Modern Quilts" - details in the club newsletter.
EDIT :: We now have a copy of the Entry Form for Tote & Gloat Challenges 2014 which was accidentally missed from the newsletter. You can collect a copy from Village Books & Crafts, The Cloth Shop or Angels in Gumboots.
Club challenges are to be handed in by 5pm Thursday 1st May 2014 to Village Books & Crafts or the Cloth Shop or Angels in Gumboots (all links and addresses above)
As with other years, there is also a block challenge for Tote & Gloat ticket holders - details given when you purchase your ticket. You hand this in when you arrive for the day.
If you are bringing quilts that you want to have hanging up on display, don't forget to add velcro to the top of your quilt - fluffy side - attached to the quilt itself or on a temporary sleeve.
To help you plan your day, here is a rough guide of what is planned:
8:30am Hall open for viewing guest exhibitor’s work and merchant mall. Hand in blocks for block challenge. Cafeteria open (we do recommend you purchase your lunch early before the rush, and Eftpos is available).
10:00am Raffles close and Tote & Gloat begins
12:30pm Lunch break.
1:45pm Voting for Viewer’s Choice on Challenge Quilt and Challenge Block closes
2:25pm Guest speaker - Dale Rollerson
3:15pm Announcement of the Challenge winners
4:00pm Quilts taken down.
Hope to see you there
