Winners of Club Symposium Challenge : "Side by side, together as one"

At our final club meeting for the year on Monday night, we voted for our Club Symposium Challenge : “Side by Side, Together As One” - the black, white and red challenge.
Each of the 5 clubs involved with Symposium were asked to run a club challenge : size A3 Portrait, using Black, white and a specific colour (Rose City Quilters' colour was red). Members were asked to consider portraying what is special to them about their area. Each club was to choose 3 quilts from their entries to hang in the foyer of the major Quilt Exhibition at Symposium to greet people as they enter.
Our club viewers' choice selected these as the top 3 to go through to the Symposium show. Click on any photo to see it larger.

November Club Meeting : XMAS MEETING!

Next Rose City Quilters' Club meeting is Monday 25th November
The Lychway
5 Roy Street, Palmerston North
Doors open at 7pm - Meeting starts at 7.30pm
Visitors welcome - $3 at the door

This is our last club meeting for 2014. Please bring a small plate for supper. Our entertainment for the evening is a secret :-)

For our Xmas meeting this year the committee have asked that instead of bringing something for food bank, that each member bring a gift to go to the Starlight Group – the group that volunteer to Ward 21 and bring cheer to the Mental Health Patients. We had this group visit our August Club Night.
They need: Toiletries, soap, hand cream, hair-care products, shampoo, conditioner, facecloths, aftershave, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorants (no glass allowed), etc; Socks; Soft toys. They always need more things for the male patients.
They would also like donations of sweets and chocolates bars, packets of biscuits – in fact any present you would like for yourself if you were in a psychiatric ward on Christmas Day.

We will be voting on the Symposium Challenge for our club “Side by Side, Together As One”, the black white and red challenge. Viewers' choice will select the top 3 to go through to the Symposium show.
Challenge Quilts are to be handed in to Village Books & Crafts, The Cloth Shop or Angels in Gumboots by 5pm on the 20th of November.

We also have our AGM at this meeting. It is always quite short...Please read your newsletter so you are ready to vote about our subscriptions.
We need new committee members. Nominations will be voted at the AGM. A large number of our committee are retiring and we are losing valued experience. The up side of this is that we will have new people with new ideas and good knowledge to join our team. Please consider joining the committee as our constitution states that we have a minimum number of ten members on the committee. If we have more committee then it lightens the load.
